All in the Details

I have lots of random thoughts/pics today, so get ready :)

Today I noticed Carson noticing :)  Of course, I've known that she is very observant and soaks things in...she has been so observant since she was itty bitty!  But today, I realized just HOW MUCH my little sponge soaks up...so many little details.  But in Carson's world, they were all worthy of comment ;)

Observation Number One...

This is a little night light I made for the guest bathroom today.  (More on why it's upside down later...)  We were in the bathroom and Carson looked up, saw the light and pointed, saying, "Aaaahhhoooo!"  Here is how I translate: "Mama, that little light is new and I noticed it!  It's so pretty!"

Observation Number Two...

My new earrings. (No pic of me wearing them because by the time I thought about taking a pic for my blog, I was post shower which means no make-up and hair in pony-tail.  Not attractive and definitely not blog material.)

I went out this afternoon to Hobby Lobby and to Bealls while Carson was napping.  I've been wanting some new silver hoops, and I got these.  When I got home, I scooped up Carson and she was sitting in my lap facing me.  She put both hands on my cheeks, just a typical greeting...but then she noticed my new earrings and pushed my face to one side and then the other, over and over again.  She already has a word for earrings that sounds something like "rings".  She kept turning my face from side to side with a grin and finally stopped, smiled at me and nodded her head as if to approve.

Observation Number Three...

We played with crayons and markers today.  I got a bit of red marker on my hand.  Later, while reading Carson a book, she quickly said, "OH!" and flipped my hand over, touching the red stain.  She tapped it with one little finger several times and then it was, "Read me!"...back to the book.  :)

Just a few of the ways Carson observes her little world.  I love those little moments!  Here is another, but I don't really have a picture to match...I just want to make sure I get it in writing so I don't forget it...

A few days ago (maybe weeks...I don't know), Carson saw a squirrel right beside our back patio door.  She squatted beside the door and I was whispering to her, "Shhhh!  We don't want the squirrel to run away.  Shhhhh..."  The "shhhh" stuck...she puts her little finger up to her mouth when she says it now.  I can say, "What do you do when you see a squirrel?" and she'll reply, "Shhhh!" with her little finger at her mouth.

Well, yesterday another squirrel made a visit and Carson said, "Wirl!  Shhhh!"  Aunt Sarah was there and we went to the patio door.  Sure enough...a squirrel, eating my birdseed.  The next part is what I reallyyyyy want to remember.  Carson went and found Blue (a stuffed dog from Blue's Clues) and put Blue's face up to the patio door, looked at it and said, "Wirl!  Shhhhh!"  OMG!!!!  How absolutely precious and amazing is THAT?!

Ohhhh and I forgot one more...not so much an observation she made, but a skill she is showing off.  Long ago, she found the home button on our iPhones.  When you press the home button, the screen comes on, but you still have to slide a little touch slider thingy (don't you love my terminology) to get to all of the content/apps on the phone.  Well, Miss Techie has figured it out.  She presses the home button and slowly slides her finger across to open the phone.  Holy cow.

I mentioned I was full of lots of randomness...so here are some pics of our coloring adventure.  I tried to set her up with a roll of butcher paper and some crayons today while I was doing some crafting.  It worked for a little while ;P

This is what she does now when I say, "Carson, smile for Mama!"...
She has her Dad's fake smile, I'm afraid...

Annnnndddddd....she still thinks crayons make an okay snack.  Geeeezzz...

This is what happens when you eat crayons for a snack...

"Here, Mama...wanna color???"

And here is what I was doing while Carson was pulling out all my craft supplies coloring...

We love our house...but it has a couple of annoying little quirks.  One of thoses is that alllllll of the electrical outlets were installed upside down.  This is a little detail I neglected to think of when I made my cute little night lights to replace the ugly plastic ones.  Add that to John's Honey Do...

And I also made a cute little flower clippy for Carson :)

That's about all of my randomness.  My Kindle is calling me...
Thank you for sticking with me and reading all the little details of our little lives :)
