A Luke 2:19 Kind of Mom...

"Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart..."

Today was Mom's 50th birthday!  I wanted to take a few moments to make a tribute blog post to the best mom God could have blessed us with.  She is more than a blessing to Sarah and I...she is a Luke 2:19 kind of mom, treasuring us up always!

As Sarah and I thought of how to honor Mom today, we thought about the legacy her 50 years have left, not just us, but all she has encountered in her years on this earth.  Long before Sarah and I came along, she was already building her legacy.  She touches so many people in her life - past and present.  Here are the ways we think she has built such a strong legacy...

Mom, you've built for us a Legacy of Love.  Unconditional.  One of my favorite praise songs comes to mind.  Indescribable. Uncontainable... this is the kind of love you give.  You give love away abundantly and without abandon.  You love deeply and passionately.  Sometimes where others have stopped loving, you pick back up and love.  I know you have loved and now love many people in your fifty years.  I love to watch you love your Carson.  Amazing.  You helped me to see the love of a mother's heart long before I had a daughter of my own.  Yours is a love I want to emmulate in my own life and see reflected in -my- daughter's heart.

You've given us the gift of a Legacy of Wisdom.  Ohhhhh the times you've given us council, Mom!  Sometimes asked for...sometimes not. ;)  But always from the heart and given with love.  I know you want what is best for your family.  Your advice comes from experience, from intuition and instinct, from a Christian faith, from fresh perspective.  When we need it, your wisdom helps illuminate our paths.  There is truth in your words and your views.  There is light in them.  There is purpose and there is always Christ.  Thank you for wise council.

Your Legacy of Integrity is the little voice inside my head.  It's the "stay in the light" reminder that is always present with me.  It, along with the voice of God, is what steers me in times of decision.  "If no one else was looking, would this be right or wrong?"  You are an amazingly strong woman of integrity.  You live truth.  You seek it without abandon.  You most certainly challenge me with big shoes to fill...but that small voice is always there, helping me fill them..."Stay in the light."

Happy 50th Birthday Mom!!!  I know you're a little depressed about it, but I really want you to know that your fifty years has brought more joy, light, love, wisdom and truth to all who have encountered you, past and present.  Continue to shine and build your legacy.  We are all better for having you in our lives.  We love you...and the legacy you've given.  Here's to (at LEAST!) fifty more years of love, wisdom and integrity!

Thank you Lindsey & Sarah for the best birthday ever! The sweet sentiments from my girls are very humbling and undeserved - I am the one that is blessed beyond measure. And yes, Lindsey -always "stay in The Light", and Sarah - "always wear your iPod". Much love ~Mom

OK - so I am 50 and don't know, obviously, how to post to a blog. I had to select something, and "anonymous" was the only thing I recognized. LOL! *giggle*
