Long Time...No Blog

I have a million excuses as to why it's been nearly a YEAR since I made a post! What a year it's been... With John and I BOTH in new jobs and a busy, busy little Ladybug running circles around us, it's no wonder I never found a spare moment to blog. If I found spare moments, they were usually spent catching quick cuddles, reading books or sleeping!  So...I'm a bad blogger.  I'll try my best to keep up at least weekly...err...monthly...err...I'll try my best to keep up, period! :)

Here's what's been going on with us since last JULY (holy cow, I'm embarrassed)...
  • Our baby girl turned ONE in December and now she is nearly 18 months old. I canNOT believe time has flown so fast. Of course, every parent tells you it will but until you experience it you don't realize how very true it is. It is as if I blinked and she was crawling...blink blink...walking...blink again...talking and interacting with her little world. More on what she can do now in a moment.
  • John is three DAYS away from having his first year as a band director with NISD completed. What a year! John has been at McMichael Middle School and Nac High this year. He has learned what my job dealing with middle schoolers and their craziness on a daily basis was like. I think he enjoys it! He definitely comes home with lots of interesting stories. Middle schoolers never disappoint. We have been getting used to John's crazy schedule. He works an average of about 60 - 70 hours a week. For me, this has taken some getting used to. I'm new to this whole "wife of a band director" thing. One thing I've learned is that band directors never stop. Marching/football season goes right into Christmas concerts, then competition season (solo and ensemble, etc.), concert season and end of year concerts...I'm thinking MAYBE he might get home before 6 p.m. in these last days of school.  Well, except for Friday which is graduation....ahhhh!  See, it is go-go-go from the first day to the last. LOL! Regardless, we are so very thankful and blessed that he was able to find a position here in Nac. It has been a quick year and we learned a lot about scheduling and juggling :)
  • After about two years of hoping, networking, and doing a LOT of praying, I was finally able to land my DREAM job...I am now teaching at SFA as a lecturer in the Deaf & Hard of Hearing program.  This means I am teaching college students how to teach deaf students.  Boy oh boy oh boy is it ever different from public school.  I have learned a ton and keep learning every day.  Mostly, this job has meant three things for me (well, for US)... 1) Virtually NO STRESS!!!  2) I absolutely, 100% LOVE it!  I actually do not feel like I am working and I truly mean that.  I enjoy going to work and what I am doing.  I sometimes feel guilty getting paid for it!  Then I snap back to reality and that thought goes away...haha!  3)  It allows me more time at home with the sweetest, most loving, most precious little lady in the world to me... (perfect transition to what everyone is interested in anyway...Carson!)  I'll have a separate post just for her...
I'm happy to be back on my blog!  Maybe this time it will stick now that our year long learning curve is behind us.  But I AM teaching summer school for the Summer I session, so we'll see how much time I have after the new dust settles :)  (Geez...already with the excuses...)
