She went down percentile-wise in weight and length and up a little in her head growth. She's slowed down a bit on her growth and her head is catching up so she's right on track!
Carson had an interesting reaction to Donna, our nurse. Once we put Carson on the scales, she looked at Donna like she was a horrible lady! She narrowed her eyes and told her, "Mmmmmyyaaaa!" in kind of a mean voice! Donna said they aren't supposed to remember her until 12 months but that Carson seemed to be remembering the process. When she came in to give her shots, before she even started Carson started wimpering at her and after she was done she looked at her and told her "Mmmmyyaaa!" again. We are pretty sure she definitely knows Donna was the one that gave her the shots and not us, so that's good! As far as remembering...probably not but it was interesting to watch. I think Donna felt bad! Poor Ms. Donna!
We also got a good report from Dr. Procell. Everything looks great! Carson does still have eczema, but we think we've narrowed the allergies down as much as we can at this point: rice, milk and soy. So I'll try to keep those out of my diet as much as possible and we can continue nursing. Yay! No crazy expensive formula and new routine to get used to :) I was very happy about that. Dr. Procell said she would refer us to the allergist for a skin test at 15 months but until then we'll have to just be extra careful about what I eat and the solids that we give her.
Speaking of solids...we've officially started our second attempt! The doctor recommended a different brand of cereal since she broke out with the Gerber. She recommended going organic on all solids so we know exactly what is in them. We switched to Earth's Best cereal (oatmeal, barley and spelt blend) and she LOVEEEEED it! She ate almost four full tablespoons. It was a little messy because she likes to "help" me hold the spoon and she also decided to use it as hair gel...but she kept almost all of it in her mouth and swallowed really well. This morning, however, she didn't show much interest. Most of it came right back out. She didn't seem very hungry overall this morning so we'll try again at lunch.
Here are some pics of last night's meal...
Dr. Procell also checked her head and didn't say anything more about the flat spot. It's rounded out so much and I guess she no longer is concerned so no helmet! I figured she would say something if it was still a concern and she didn't...it's avoidance behavior I know! Ha! She said at her last appointment it wasn't bad and should round out on its own so we'll just continue to make sure she lays on her right side as much as possible and keep an eye on it.
We can now take Motrin, which I am very happy about. That means I can, too! I've been taking only Tylenol for over a year now and I'm glad to be able to take more effective headache meds!
Overall...a happy & healthy baby girl!
